What this is

About

30% of every bid on outbid.eco goes to climate work. That is 30% of the bid itself, before any tax added at checkout, not of the profit or of whatever is left after costs. Every transfer is published on the ledger with its receipt.

The rest is a public leaderboard. The spot is bought, so there are no reviews, no algorithm and no editor with a say in who goes where. The amount beside a listing is exactly what was paid to put it there, anyone can see it, and anyone can move ahead by paying more.

What rank costs

Nothing is listed below $5. Taking rank one costs $5 more than the listing holding it, and every other rank costs $1 more than its holder. A claim is a one-off payment, and the rank holds until somebody outbids you.

Being outbid moves a listing down. It does not remove it, and it does not refund it. The rules set out every amount and every step, priced by the same code checkout charges.

The two boards

The all-time board counts everything a listing has ever paid and never resets. That is the board on the front page, so what you pay for there stays on your record.

The round board below it clears every time cumulative donations cross the next thousand dollars. The round is archived exactly as it stood and your all-time rank is untouched. Rank is cheapest in a round that has just opened, since the price is worked out against what has been paid into that round and not against everything ever paid.

Where the money goes

30% of each claim is set aside for climate work. The share is stored on the claim at the moment it is taken and not recalculated later, so changing the rate never rewrites what a past claim promised.

Transfers go out monthly, each one published with its receipt on the ledger, so the total above can be checked against the payments behind it.

This is paid placement

Every position on this board is advertising, and it is labelled that way on the board itself instead of in a disclosure page a reader has to go looking for. Nothing here is a recommendation, a ranking by quality, or an endorsement of what is listed.

Where the idea came from

The format is not ours. outbid.lol by @jonathan_wilke did it first, and this board is that idea rebuilt around a donation share and a published ledger.
